Local Foods Week Local Drink Tasting

Written by on September 26, 2011 in Events - 8 Comments

Local Matters’ Local Foods Week is a series of events in celebration of Ohio-grown foods. This year’s LFW is scheduled for September 30-October 8 and will feature a variety of events from a “Grilled Cheese Throwdown” on Saturday to a “Harvest Ball” on Friday.

Drink Up Columbus and House Wine have teamed up to offer a Local Drinks tasting as part of Local Foods Week on Thursday, October 6 from 6-9pm. We will have Matthew Barbee from Rockmill Brewery, Eric Allen from Brothers Drake Meadery and Joel Benedict from Firelands and Ferrante on-site to serve and discuss their products. In addition, we’ll be tapping Columbus Brewing Company’s October Hop Odyssey release (if it’s ready – it’s scheduled to be released this date, but who knows. If it’s not, we’ll have some other brews from CBC to sip.) The Olive Orchard will also be serving up locally-crafted olive oil at the event.

RSVP on Facebook to join your fellow local alcohol enthusiasts for a fun evening. Admission is $15 and includes one tasting of each local product. House Wine is located at 644 N. High Street in Worthington.

For the rest of the Local Foods Week event schedule, check the Local Matters website.

The CBC Hop Odyssey sounds like the sort of beer that gets my attention. I’m looking forward to trying it!

Definitely most excited for the Super Fresh H-O-P….I haven’t had it, but the other Hop Odyssey releases I’ve had have been good. Unless Matt Barbee is bringing the barrel-aged tripel…then I’ll have to change my answer.

Why would they not invite Via Vecchia Winery to your Local Drink Event? I tasted their wines at a recent wedding reception and they were amazing all natural wines.
