Middle West Spirits medals at 2013 Artisan American Spirits Awards

Middle West Spirits was recently awarded two medals from the American Distilling Association as part of the 2013 Artisan American Spirits Awards.

Middle West’s OYO Wheat Whiskey was awarded the Best of Category – Gold Medal for the Wheat Whiskey category while their OYO Rye Whiskey was awarded a bronze medal in the Clear Whiskey category.

Meigs County-based Dancing Tree Distillery was awarded a silver medal for their Spicebush Gin.

317 artisan American spirits were entered into the competition: 127 whiskies, 66 gins, 36 moonshines, 47 rums and 41 fruit spirits from 124 small-batch distillers. Judges awarded 23 gold, 44 silver and 46 bronze medals, with only 37% of participants earning a medal. Five panels of four judges each evaluated the spirits.
