“Our special today is french toast with maple bacon ice cream.”
“What the hell did you just say?”
“Our brunch special, it’s a house-made bacon maple ice cream…”
“Shut the fuck up.”
I’d like to take this time to apologize to my waitress for my vulgar language, but you see, I’d never heard a phrase so lovely as “bacon maple ice cream” before that moment, and I didn’t know how to fucking handle it.
Bacon maple ice cream is everything you could hope it would be, by the way: syrupy-sweet, with just a hint of smokey bacon flavor and a slightly crunchy texture. Scoop that onto french toast with, naturally, a slice of bacon, and you’ve got one amazing brunch dish. You might not be able to have bacon ice cream when you go, though, as it was only a special (attn: Wolf’s Ridge – PUT THIS ON YOUR MENU ASAP THANK YOU).
Don’t worry, there’s plenty of other delicious brunch goodness waiting for you here. How about a breakfast sandwhich on brioche topped with braised pork, egg, sriacha aioli, lettuce and pickled onion? Or an omelet stuffed with chorizo and a black bean and corn relish? Or maybe just an order, or four, of apple cider glazed donut holes?
Pair any of those delicious dishes with a refreshing beermosa, made with Wolf’s Ridge’s own Harvest Wheat ale, Lillet (a French aperitif wine) and fresh squeezed orange juice. Alternately, they offer a Stout and Espresso concoction or a Bloody Maria to drunk up your brunch.
Brunch at Wolf’s Ridge Brewing is available Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-3pm. Wolf’s Ridge Brewing is located at 215 N 4th Street.
