beersandboardgamesAre you into board games? I’m not talking about Monopoly, I mean the kind where you trade sheep for wheat in Catan and feed the giant panda in Takenoko.

And how about beer? You’re here, so you’re probably into beer, or you took a wrong turn from Facebook.

If you answered yes to both of these questions, you should check out the Beers and Board Games Club of Columbus.

Beers and Board Club was founded in September of last year by, uh, me.

I sat down with myself to learn more.

Cheryl: Hey Cheryl, thanks for taking time to sit down with Drink Up Columbus. I know you’re really busy and super important. What is Beers and Board Games all about?

Cheryl: Great question, Cheryl, and you look especially nice today, by the way. Beers and Board Games club is a fun way to meet new people, learn new games and do something fun while enjoying local craft beer! We drink beer while we play board games. Honestly, you should have figured it out from the title.

…OK I’m done.

The group meets once a month at varying bars and breweries in Columbus, with past events at Zauber Brewing, Barley’s Smokehouse and Woodlands Tavern. Attendees often bring their own games from home, though the event organizer (cough) always brings 5-10 so there’s plenty to play.

The next event is Monday, March 17 from 6-9pm at Elevator Brewing’s 13th Floor Taproom, located at 165 N. 4th Street. Elevator will be bringing snacks for purchase from their nearby restaurant, as well as treats from Eight Cakes A Week.

You can find out about future events at beersandboardgames.com and by joining the Facebook group.
