bloody mary barFew brunch places come equipped with a back-up plan, but at Ethyl & Tank, if your brunch date is boring, you can sneak upstairs and take advantage of free-play classic arcade games!

The campus bar, which opened earlier this year, is a bar, restaurant, coffee shop and mini-arcade, which combine into Captain Planet a good spot to spend a Saturday afternoon.

If you’re a fan of bloody marys, you’re going to want to take advantage of the $5 build-your-own-bloody mary bar, which features an impressive wall of toppings for you to choose from after selecting one of four vodka flavors. If you’re NOT a bloody mary fan, you can do a mimosa, one of Tank’s many draft or canned beers, or a video game-inspired cocktail (also available by the pitcher in case you’re really trying to get day drunk.) As the “Ethyl” in “Ethyl & Tank” is a coffee shop, you could also opt to get a mocha or latte or something and then, you know, add a shot to it. Cause priorities.

On the sweet side, Tank offers orange blossom french toast and creme brulee crepes. Savory selections include a stack of pancakes topped with pulled pork and cheese, a breakfast burger, and several southwest-style dishes. I had the chicken and waffle sandwhich, with a juicy chicken breast, bacon, cheddar and green onions wedged between two waffles and served with a side of maple syrup. This was a tasty sammich. And I learned a valuable lesson: if you dip french fries in maple syrup, they transform into breakfast fries.

Brunch at Ethyl & Tank is served Sundays from 8am-4pm. Ethyl & Tank is located at 19 13th Avenue.
