Drunk Brunch: The Table

After the restaurant I had planned to visit this weekend for drunk brunch told me they were out of food (out of food! all the food!), my backlog of brunching brought me downtown to The Table, which opened late last year.

The Table’s interior features an eclectic mix of, well, tables (and chairs!) paired with brightly colored walls and pops of plant life on every table. They also have a patio behind the building, which I didn’t get a chance to check out.

There are plenty of brunch-worthy imbibing options, from a simple mimosa or bloody mary to an Aperol and bubbly blend or a coffee with RumChata. I selected The 75th, featuring Watershed’s amazing Bourbon Barrel Gin topped off with bubbles and a lemon twist. A local brew from Seventh Son was the lone draft feature, accompanied by a solid selection of 10 bottled beers and a half dozen wines by the glass.

For food, several simple selections are available, like one of The Table’s fresh-baked-daily croissants or pastries, or yogurt with granola. They also offer a quiche of the day, baked eggs, steak & eggs, a breakfast burger, biscuits & gravy and a Dutch Mama, which is apparently some sort of fancy pancake – unfortunately for me, they were out of it. Instead, I had an egg sandwich with sharp cheddar and arugula on an amazingly buttery croissant. It’s typically served with a side of fruit, which they had also just run out of (“out-of-food” was the theme for Saturday everywhere, it seems), so I chose a side of bacon, which is like the fruit of the pig… right?

Brunch at The Table is served Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-4pm. The Table is located at 21 E Fifth Ave.

The Table is just across the street from Brothers Drake Meadery, which opens at 1pm on Saturdays (but not until 5pm on Sundays) so I advise following up a Saturday drunk brunching here with a dose of meady goodness.
