Middle West Spirits debuts OYO Dark Pumpernickel Rye Whiskey

Middle West Spirits OYO Rye PumpernickelMiddle West Spirits is adding a new product to their lineup: OYO Dark Pumpernickel Rye Whiskey.

The new spirit is a small-batch single varietal straight pumpernickel rye whiskey. The distillery describes it as a balanced union of sweet and spice, with soft notes of vanilla caramel, pumpernickel rye spice, cinnamon and smoked oak. The 90 proof spirit retails for $45 for a 750ml bottle, and is expected to be on store shelves next week.

The distillery also released the second batch of their OYO Oloroso Wheat Whiskey today. Oloroso is a single-source Ohio soft red winter wheat whiskey matured in fresh American oak barrels and barrel-finished in American oak sherry casks. OYO Oloroso is 102 proof and retails for $79.95 for a 750ml bottle, and is now available in select state liquor stores in Columbus.

On top of that, the Short North distillery will release Bourbon Barrel-aged Ohio Maple Syrup next week. This is the second release of this Middle West seasonal syrup, a 100% Pure Grade A Dark Ohio Maple Syrup cask-aged in OYO Bourbon and Whiskey barrels. The syrup will be available at Whole Foods, Weiland’s, Huffman’s, Hills Markets, Celebrate Ohio and other retailers beginning December 1, with an 8oz bottle retailing at $17.99 and a 16oz bottle for $29.99.
