Middle West Spirits is bringing home honors from the 6th Annual New York World Wine & Spirits Competition.

The Columbus distillery received a total of three medal recognitions for its OYO branded whiskeys at the competition, which was held in August. Middle West’s OYO Dark Pumpernickel Rye claimed the highest accolades, a Double Gold Medal & Best Rye Whiskey honors. Their OYO Wheat Whiskey and OYO Michelone Reserve Bourbon each earned Gold Medals.

“We’re proud of the whiskeys we are making and honored to be recognized among such a strong set of world of world class brands,” said Brady Konya, co-owner and General Manager of Middle West in a statement. “Its rewarding to have the work we do in Columbus recognized on an international stage.”

The New York World Wine & Spirits Competition is judged by a panel of the spirit industry professionals, authors, buyers, journalists, educators and bar owners. Entires are rated on a 100-point scale and this year the competition saw an increase of 50 percent for the number of brand entries.
