The Boston Beer Company announced in June that they would be sending Samuel Adams Utopias, their highly coveted, highly alcoholic gold-bottled brew to Ohio for the first time after the state legislature passed a bill to remove Ohio’s beer alcohol cap, previously limited to 12% ABV. Now some Ohioans will get the first chance to purchase a bottle — if they can afford the steep price tag that goes along with it.
Those interested can enter at select central Ohio Kroger locations through December 10 for the opportunity to purchase one of 25 bottles of the 28% ABV Sam Adams Utopias, a 24-ounce bottle of which retails for $189. Winners will be selected on Saturday, December 10 at 5pm, and will have 48 hours to purchase the beer after being notified.
