A new documentary series will debut this May showcasing the people and processes behind crafting Columbus beer.

The series, called The Beer Fix, comes from local video production company Bullseye Media.

“We have wanted to produce an original documentary for a long time and a craft brewery documentary series was the idea that got us the most excited,” said Ledion Isufaj, Director of Business Operations at Bullseye Media. “As everyone knows, Columbus is growing really fast, but there has always been a lot of culture in this city and we want to showcase that to the world starting with this series.”

The crew began filming late last year and have since shot hundreds of hours of footage at more than half a dozen local breweries. The eight episode will be released bi-weekly, beginning on May 18, here on Drink Up Columbus. (I make a few appearances in the series, too!)

You can catch the first episode a day early at the Drexel theater during a special premiere event Columbus Craft Beer Week. The May 17 event, which starts at 6pm, includes a viewing of the first episode featuring Elevator Brewing Company and highlights from the rest of the upcoming season, followed by a panel discussion with the documentary filmmakers and Columbus craft beer industry insiders. (RSVP to the premiere)

Isufaj says one of the biggest surprises for the production crew was learning how much collaboration there is within the Columbus craft beer community.

“Everyone knows each other and they cheer for each other to succeed,” said Isufaj. “They have a deep love for making beer and they really want to make Columbus a landmark in the beer scene.”

The Beer Fix itself is a collaboration, produced by Bullesye Media’s Ryan Luli, Ledion Isufaj and David Rowe (who is also the host of the show) with additional production support from Zach Ford, Derek Hoover, Seth Baker and Aaron Rhinehart. AddVision Photography and Video also lent equipment to the project.

View the trailer below and check back on May 18 for the first episode of The Beer Fix. The second episode, out June 1, will focus on The Actual Brewing Company.
