New Brew Adventures

I’m a big fan of Columbus Brew Adventures: I’ve taken their Downtown Brewery Tour, Grandview Brewery Tour, Delaware/Powell Brewery Tour, Granville/Buckeye Lake Brewery Tour, Brewery District Walking Tour, AND Pitchers and Pizza Tour. It’s always fun and interesting to get the behind the scenes view of the breweries, not to mention sampling lots of good local craft brews, so I was excited to learn that Columbus Brew Adventures owner Jim Ellison has added new tours and one-of-a-kind events.

One of the one-offs is the Westerville Walking Tour which will delve into the critical role that Westerville played almost 100 years ago in the onset of Prohibition. Along with the history will be stops at Temperance Row Brewing, the Meza Wine Shop, Good Vibes Winery, Schneider’s Bakery, Buckeye Brewcraft and Asterisk Supper Club. The tour is scheduled for October 14th, the same day as the first-ever craft beer event in Westerville.

Another new — and limited — tour will be the Haunted Winery Tour at Via Vecchia. If you haven’t been to Via Vecchia Winery in the Brewery District, this is a rare opportunity to see this unique venue which is seldom open to the public. The Haunted Winery Tours are scheduled for October 24th, October 26th and November 9th, with more dates possibly added if those sell out.

Along the same vein is the Beer, Wine, Boos and “Spirits” Tour with fun and spooky stops at Wolf’s Ridge, Studio 35, Barley’s and Via Vecchia. Unfortunately, one of the two scheduled tours completely sold out in about 24 hours, but there is one spot left for the October 29 tour.

Additional tours are in the planning stage, such as a Field-to-Glass Tour at Restoration Brew Worx in Delaware and a Brewery District After Dark Tour featuring Germania and Via Vecchia.
