Five Ohio breweries medal at World Beer Cup

World Beer Cup

The winners for the 2016 World Beer Cup were announced tonight at the conclusion of the Craft Brewers Conference in Philadelphia. 6,596 beers from 1,907 breweries representing 55 countries were entered in the competition.

Columbus’ North High Brewing earned a Silver medal in the American-Style Pale Ale category for their Pale Ale, besting 165 other entries.

Cincinnati’s Fifty West Brewing earned a Gold medal for their 2013 Barleywine, with 70 other entries in the Barleywine category.

Northeast Ohio’s Fat Head’s Brewery claimed Gold for Hop JuJu in the Imperial India Pale Ale category against 180 other entries, and a Bronze medal in the American-Style Black Ale category for Midnight Moonlight, against 66 other entries.

Little Fish Brewing in Athens won Gold for Barrel Aged Woodthrush in the Belgian- and French-Style Ale category (42 total entries), and Willoughby Brewing got a bronze for Nut Smasher in the specialty beer category (60 entries.)

    Really cool! Seems like this would be a fun competition to be a judge for. Great to see local people doing so well with such a variety competing!
