The bar scene in Downtown Columbus has definitely seen its ups and downs. With the Grand Opening of the Long Street District on June 10th, new life will be breathed into the area.

The CGS group, owners of the Long Street District, have owned the property at 40 Long Street since 2002. They originally opened Fabric and eventually expanded into the Long Street Complex. Over the past few years, they focused their attention on the development of the Park Street Complex, which they also own. With the success of the Park Street bars, the owners are now focusing their attention back on Long Street.

“The two [properties] will be similar in that both Park Street Complex and Long Street District have multiple bars and entertainment areas,” said Mike Gallicchio, club co-owner. “We are shooting for different markets than we currently have at Park Street.”

Long Street District will have six different rooms, each with their own unique flavor. “We will concentrate on each bar having a different cosmetic appeal and music,” said Gallicchio.

The events planned for opening weekend include “Rock Star Fridays” which is billed as “the ultimate college night.” Featured music will include top 40, country, and dance. Saturday’s event is called “Rotation” and focuses on using all 6 rooms, each with a different theme.
