Barley’s Brewing Company and Barley’s Smokehouse announced today that they have been acquired by beer giants Anheuser-Busch InBev for an undisclosed amount.
“Anheuser-Busch has long been a part of Columbus with our brewery on the north side of town,” said Anheuser-Busch InBev spokesperson Andrew Smith in an email. “Adding two smaller breweries in the community to our portfolio seemed like the right move at this time.”
“We wanted to remain independent and keep making great beer, but let’s be honest, no one drinks craft beer anymore,” said former Barley’s owner Lenny Kolada.
Anheuser-Busch InBev plans to continue operation of both of Barley’s brewpubs in downtown Columbus and the Grandview Heights area, but will begin adding offerings from their own portfolio such as Bud Ice to the brewing rotation.
This post is obviously an April Fools joke. Viva la Craft Beer.

this is horrible
This was an April Fool’s Joke, Ryan… 🙂
As a13 year employee and manager of Barley’s I can tell you that this is an (irresponsible) April Fools Joke.
Barley’s Smokehouse posted it on Facebook, they clearly thought it was in good humor. 🙂
Cheryl, could you or one if your minions please email Ryan? We might have lost a good customer thanks to your shenanigans (insert winking emoticon).
I was in shock until I read the line “no one drinks craft anymore”, obvious prank.
