alesforalsColumbus Brewing was one of 69 breweries across 22 states selected to participate in Ales for ALS, a nationwide campaign raising funds to benefit ALS (often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) research.

Each of the Ales for ALS beers features a unique and proprietary hop blend of Citra, Mosaic, Equinox and experimental hop varieties HBC291, HBC336, and HBC344. Brewers are given access to this proprietary hop blend, free of charge, in exchange for participation in Ales for ALS. A portion of sales is then donated to ALS TDI, the world’s leader in ALS research.

CBC’s 2014 Ales for ALS brew is an IPA clocking in at 7.5% ABV and 85 IBU. The brewery describes the beer as explosive in flavor, featuring notes of fresh tropical fruit, pine, and citrus.

It is currently available at Bob’s Bar, The Crest, House Beer, Studio 35, Local Bar, Olde Towne Tavern, The Ohio Taproom, 4th Street Patio, Flipside Easton, Whole Foods Dublin, The Daily Growler, and will tap at all area Winking Lizards on August 6.
