Deschutes Brewery, which launched in the Ohio market earlier this year, is bringing its Base Camp for Beer Fanatics to Columbus for a week of beer tastings, food pairings and specialty Deschutes brews that can’t be found elsewhere.
Base Camp Week will take place August 25-31 at various spots around the city. The event is in partnership with “Yay Bikes”, a local non-profit making the city safer for biking. A portion of the proceeds from scheduled events will benefit Yay Bikes, and Deschutes Brewery will make a matching donation of up to $1,000.
Below is a full list of Base Camp for Beer Fanatics events. Deschutes’ giant traveling beer barrel bar-on-wheels, Woody, will also be roaming Columbus neighborhoods Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons of Base Camp week — be sure to stop over if you spot it for some free swag.
What: Six-Pack Mondays with Deschutes Brewery
When: Monday, August 25, 6-9pm
Where: Whole Foods Market (Dublin), 3670 W. Dublin-Granville Rd
Deschutes Brewery giant traveling beer barrel, Woody, will be pouring on the front patio, and inside you’ll find Deschutes beers paired with food from different departments throughout the store. While you enjoy a pint special at the bar, chat with a brewer from Deschutes. A portion of proceeds from the evening will go to Yay Bikes, making Columbus a safer place to cycle.
What: Beer Geek Bonanza
When: Tuesday, August 26, 5-9pm
Where: World of Beer (Brewery District), 503 S Front St
The Deschutes Brewery gang is traveling over from Oregon with Woody, their giant traveling beer barrel – the biggest beer geek of them all. Not only is the beer lineup for the evening totally geeked out with some fantastic Oregon brews, but visitors can quiz the brewer who’ll be visiting from Deschutes as well. He’ll be leading a special bottle tasting of hard-to-find brews that you won’t want to miss. You’ll have a chance to win special prizes by playing the mother of all board games – Deschutes and Ladders – or playing a round or two of beer trivia. A portion of proceeds for the evening will help make Columbus safer for cyclists through non-profit partner “Yay Bikes!”
What: Hats Off to Homebrewers
When: Wednesday, August 27, 5-9pm
Where: Seventh Son Brewery, 1101 N 4th St
Attention homebrewers and beer geeks…come share your love for craft at Seventh Son Brewery for a collaborative event with Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery. Visitors can chat with the brewers from both Seventh Son and Deschutes while enjoying samples of beers from both breweries paired with delectable food cart fare. Gather complimentary brewing supplies, including clone recipe booklets and bags of whole flower hops, to use in your next homebrew (supplies are limited). A formal brewer Q&A session will answer your darkest, or lightest, brewing questions. Top off the evening by getting your photo with Woody, Deschutes Brewery’s giant traveling beer barrel. Grab a fellow homebrewer or craft beer fan and join us for this amazing event!

What’s better than a party in the parking lot? A party with Deschutes Brewery’s giant beer barrel, Woody, with his 8 tap handles and disco ball. Enjoy one of his many beers while quizzing the Deschutes brewer who will be on hand to answer all your burning craft beer questions. A special menu for the evening will pair menu items with Deschutes Brewery beers, live music will add to the festivities and a portion of proceeds for the evening will help make Columbus safer for cyclists through non-profit partner “Yay Bikes!”

Deschutes Brewery is bringing its “Base Camp for Beer Fanatics” to Columbus, and they’re really doing it right at Giant Eagle. Not only are they bringing their giant traveling beer barrel, Woody, to help celebrate, but we’re setting up beer samples throughout the store set up with perfect food pairings. The brewery will be giving away some Oregon swag, so come on down and get some!

Deschutes Brewery is bringing its “Base Camp for Beer Fanatics” to Downtown Delaware for a night. They will be taking over downtown with “Woody” the 25 foot traveling beer barrel, live music, great culinary offerings from local restaurants, fun games & of course some damn tasty brews Deschutes is bringing out from Oregon. It’s going to be a party you can’t miss! Proceeds from the evening will go to help the efforts of Women’s City Club of Delaware.

Wrap up the weekend (and the final day of August) with an interactive movie screening of the modern day classic “Zoolander” coupled with an interactive fashion show to match. They’re wrapping up a week of events crafted especially for beer fanatics, and their giant traveling beer barrel, Woody, will be making his final Columbus appearance at Studio 35.
