Three places to celebrate Drink Wine Day

drink wine dayI don’t know who makes up these fake holidays, but as long as they continue to make up days that encourage drinking deliciously, I’ll support them wholeheartedly.

So, uh, happy Drink Wine Day! Start celebrating.

House Wine

The Worthington wine shop’s wine vending machine makes it an ideal sampling spot. Get a card from the cashier, insert it into a slot on the machine, and proceed to taste at your own pace. The 24 bottles of wine inside are sorted white to red, sweet to dry. Unlike some high end wine bars which don’t even list the price of a glass or bottle of wine on the menu, the digital display on the machine clearly tells you how much a one, three or five ounce pour from each bottle will set you back. To dispense, just press the button above the desired wine for the desired quantity and hold your wine glass underneath. Presto. Wino.

Wyandotte Winery

Located just north of Morse Road off Cherry Bottom on a quiet suburban road in a beautiful spot nestled among tall trees sits Wyandotte Winery. Every Wednesday, Wyandotte celebrates Hump Day Happy Hour, offering $4 glasses of wine from 5-8pm. The winery also offers half-priced appetizers to satisfy your snacking needs.

Camelot Cellars

The Short North winery has a Tuscan vibe, complete with long hand-crafted wood tables and relaxing sipping spaces. Every third Wednesday of the month, Camelot hosts Ladies Night, offering all 70+ of their wines at the bar for only $5 a glass from 5-8pm. Complimentary cheese and crackers included!
