The Origins Game Fair just left town so I’ve got board games on the brain. Here are some of the best spots in Columbus to toss some dice while you toss back a beer.
Kingmakers
Columbus’ only dedicated board gaming bar, Kingmakers carried over 500 titles in their cabinets and comes equipped with board game sommeliers who can show you and your friends the ropes for any game you’ve never played. The bar carries a handful of local craft drafts as well as wine on tap.
Zauber Brewing
While Wednesday night is Zauber’s official weekly game night, you can pop into this Grandview brewery any night and borrow one of the more than two dozen games that they keep behind the bar, just ask a bartender to see the list! Enjoy their Belgian and German inspired beers or try one of their unique beer cocktails.
Land-Grant Brewing
If you prefer your beer with bowers, head to Land-Grant Brewing Company seasonally on Mondays for Euchre night. They just wrapped up the spring season, but they’ve still got cards and score cards behind the bar and encourage you to practice for their upcoming fall league.
Shadowbox Live Backstage Bistro
The Columbus Area Board Game Society (CABS for short) is the go-to group for tabletop gaming in Central Ohio, and once per month they host a drinking and gaming event at ShadowboxLive. Attendees are encouraged to B.Y.O.G (bring your own game) and CABS provides a selection of 5-10 games from their extensive library. The next event is slated for June 18!
