If you’re a local lover of hops you’re probably a fan of Hoof Hearted Brewing’s two big IPAs: Musk of the Minotaur IPA and South of Eleven Double IPA. You’ve probably also long lamented the fact that Hoof Hearted doesn’t have a taproom where you can drop in for a fresh pint. Well, that’s about to change.

Hoof Hearted moved their brewery to a new location this past spring, and a taproom at the new spot is nearly completed. On Sunday, July 19th, the brewery will have mobile canning operation Buckeye Canning in to package up 200 cases of Musk of the Minotaur IPA, and they’re hosting a soft opening in conjunction with the canning. Co-owner and brewmaster Trevor Williams admits they will be “playing it by ear” for this event, so it is only appropriate that the hours for the soft opening are “from noonish to whenever.” Hoof Hearted will have several beers available on their new draft system, including Musk of the Minotaur, South of Eleven and a yet-unnamed ‘tart Saison.’ While the brewery is canning 200 cases, 120 of them are reserved for the Cleveland Browns for an August game so only 80 cases are available for the rest of us. First come, first served!

Hoof Hearted Brewery is located in Marengo at 300 County Road 26, just a few miles east of I-71 and about 10 miles north of Delaware. The official opening for the taproom will be in early August, with afternoon hours on weekends to start.

Hoof Hearted is also getting closer to opening their new brewpub in Italian Village. With a little luck and some regulatory cooperation, they could have the brewpub opened by early fall. It will be located just a few blocks south of the Seventh Son Brewery on Fourth Street. This location will feature a 10 bbl brewing system to provide the beer for on-site sales in conjunction with the Marengo brewery’s 15 bbl system.
