Mill Street Bourbon“When it’s ready, it’s ready.”

Mill Street Distillery is releasing their first ever bourbon at an event this Saturday featuring signed bottles, a food truck and special Mill Street bourbon merchandise.

The distillery, one of four in Central Ohio, is known for its moonshine and grapa. Their bourbon has been aged for two years in American Oak barrels. The early barrels, about half of the batch, were ready for bottling but the rest will be released as it continues to age.

The nose of the bourbon is primarily almonds and pears while the taste is smooth and sweet with dry, nutty fruit notes, said Co-Owner Hernando Posada.

“We’ve been very lucky with our farmers,” said Posada of their recent products. “This is some of the best corn in the country and crops have been great in the last few years.”

The corn, he explained, has been high in fructose which results in a sweeter bourbon. Mill Street uses locally sourced crops in all of it’s products.

After the bottle release this weekend, the bourbon is projected to make its way into state warehouses and liquor stores over the next two weeks.
