Beer from Here: Pigskin Victorie Noel

Pigskin Victorie NoelIs it just me, or is a Christmas Ale, a Christmas Ale, a Christmas Ale? Most Christmas ales all fall in the same big bucket, as far as I am concerned.

Not Victorie Noel. Vic Gonzales, head brewer at Pigskin Brewing in Gahanna, stepped it up a notch with his take on a Christmas Ale. According to Vic, he didn’t want to brew “just another Christmas beer.” He started with a base beer with some moxie: a Belgian Dark Strong Ale. He provided a little extra flair by using a Westmalle yeast, and then dosed it with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and ginger. The result is a big, flavorful, spicy beer with some serious body. And clocking in at 10.1%, Victorie Noel is truly a “winter warmer.”

With 30 kegs in stock, this brew should be on tap at Pigskin for a few more weeks so head to the brewery and get yourself a glass of holiday cheers.

Pigskin Brewing is located at 81 Mill Street in Gahanna.
