Firkin

Firkin’ right! Smokehouse Brewing Company’s 13th annual Mini Real Ale Fest is happening this Saturday featuring fabulous infused firkins from over a dozen Ohio craft breweries.

This annual ‘fest features firkins of “Real Ale”, or cask ale — unfiltered and unpasteurized beer served directly from the cask it is conditioned in, without added CO2. The lineup for the event has me drooling a bit on my keyboard.

Actual Brewing: Cherries Jubilee Fat Julian imperial stout
Barley’s Brewing: Beastie Boysenberry RIS in bourbon barrel with berries and vanilla
Columbus Brewing: Bodhi infused with fresh blueberries and mint
Fat Head’s Brewing: Jungle Juice Head Hunter American IPA
Four String Brewing: Ghost Ship Vortex Baltic Porter with espresso beans and cacao nibs
Kindred Artisan Ales: Farmhouse Pale Ale with grapefruit, dry hopped with Citra, Summer & Equinox
Land-Grant Brewing: Paloma Stiff Arm IPA with oak, tequila and dry hops
Lineage Brewing: Grip It By The Husk coconut Porter
North High Brewing: New Orleans Coffee Golden Ale with Thunderkiss coffee, chicory and lactose
Seventh Son Brewing: Wild Hunt English-style barleywine with vanilla beans and cardamom
Smokehouse Brewing: HeatherWood gruit with heather, wormwood and raw Ohio honey
Weaselboy Brewing: Anastasia Russian Imperial Stout
Wolf’s Ridge Brewing: Double Dry Hopped Driftwood session IPA

Tickets are $37 online or $35 at the brewpub and include 12 tasting tickets, a souvenir pint glass and a program.

The 13th annual Mini Real Ale Fest will take place from 12-3pm on Saturday, May 14 at Smokehouse Brewing Company, located at 1130 Dublin Road.

full disclosure: Smokehouse is a client – although I’ve been saying years before we started working together that this is one of my favorite events in Columbus!
