Four String Brewing Company is full of pride for the annual release of Starbreaker, a beer whose release and accompanying rainbow tap handles are timed with the start of national LGBT Pride Month.
Starbreaker is an Apricot Rye Pale, conditioned with apricots for a pleasantly tart flavor. Proceeds from select events around this year’s release will help support the Stonewall Columbus Banner Project, which funds the Pride banners displayed on light posts throughout the city.
“We are excited to raise money for the Banner Project because it gives the community something tangible as a result of their support,” said Four String owner Dan Cochran in a statement. “When you see the Pride celebration banners in our city, you can know that buying a pint of Starbreaker was a part of helping make that happen.”
Four String will be hosting a Starbreaker release event this Saturday, June 4 at their Sixth Ave taproom in Grandview. Starting at noon, a special cask of Starbreaker will be tapped with all proceeds going directly to the Banner Project. Proceeds from Starbreaker sales will also be donated at a Pride kickoff party at The Pint House starting at 3pm on Friday, June 10.
Starbreaker will hit taps at other area bars throughout next week. Four String is encouraging the bars and restaurants who plan to pour Starbreaker to join in the effort to donate to the Banner Project.
“Retailers had such a strong response to the program last year that we decided to build on their enthusiasm and invite them to be a part of the team,” said Four String Brewmaster Larry Horwitz.
