Two Columbus breweries are bringing home honors from the Indiana State Fair Brewers’ Cup, one of the nations largest competitions featuring both home brewers and pro brewers.

Wolf’s Ridge took 2nd place for Best in Show with Clear Sky Daybreak, which was also awarded first place in the spice/herb/vegetable beer category. Wolf’s Ridge also claimed a second place honor for Rum Barrel Dire Wolf and third Place for their Buchenrauch. Brew Brothers earned first place in the Other American Ale category for their Redhead Amber Ale.

“Winning for Daybreak is especially special for us,” said Chris Davison, Head Brewer for Wolf’s Ridge. “Not only does it recognize a delicious beer, but it recognizes the amazing coffee we source from One Line. It is also a victory of sorts because for so long, the only coffee beers winning competitions were stouts and porters. Coffee blonde beers are beginning to see broader acceptance as a viable style.”

Other Ohio breweries to receive accolades at the competition include Christian Moerlein (first place for Saengerfest in the bock category, second place for Hudepohl Pure in the American hybrid category, and second place for Third Wave in the American IPA category), Rhinegeist (first place for Streaker in the American Ale category), and Rock Bottom (second place for Three Pepper Ale in the spice/herb/vegetable category)

“It’s always humbling to be recognized for a product of your own creation,” said Davison. “We put a ton of hard work into every beer, more than the average drinker will ever know, and winning an award helps put all that work and long hours into perspective.”
