The Grove City Brewing Company is the newest arrival to the Columbus brewery community.
The brewery is part of Plum Run Winery, which has been operating at this location since 2012. Grove City Brewing Company, which recently hosted a sneak peek weekend, is very much a work in progress, with extensive construction still underway at the 1920’s former Ford dealership building. The grand opening will take place close to Labor Day weekend, though the date is yet to be announced.
At the moment they have six guest beers on tap plus a handful of beers in bottles and cans, but more importantly, what can you expect once they are full operational? Look for a large taproom and an 800 square foot patio plus a full kitchen, live music, and 20 tap handles. According to head brewer Trevor Luther, eight taps will be devoted to house beers, eight for guest drafts, two for Plum Run hard ciders and two for house-made sodas. Add to that wine from Plum Run and a full liquor license, and you have the full package. Grove City’s house taps are currently planned to pour a Citra Blonde, a dry Irish Stout, and two IPAs, with the other two house handles dedicated to one-off releases. Trevor hopes to fire up his 3-barrel brewing system this week, mashing in first on the Citra Blonde, followed by an Octoberfest lager.
Luther said he plans to feature a special pin every Tuesday and a firkin every Thursday, infused with fresh fruits or vegetables from the local farmer’s market. He also has visions of using some of the Plum Run cider barrels to do some barrel aged sours. The brewery plans to source some of their malts and hops from a Marysville area farm.
The Grove City Brewing Company, and Plum Run Winery, are located at 3946 Broadway in Grove City’s Historic Town Center.
