Newark’s Canal Market District and Homestead Beer Company of Heath have teamed up to create a unique ale featuring local pumpkins from some of the Canal Market’s produce vendors as a key ingredient.
Homestead is calling the beer “Canal Market Harvest Ale” in homage to Licking County’s farmers and its newest grower-only farmers market.
“To see five of our local farmers have their pumpkins included in a local beer is really exciting,” said Market Director Bryn Bird in a statement. “We appreciate and applaud Homestead for their commitment to buying from the market.”
Homestead will release Canal Market Harvest Ale at a party at the District on October 29 featuring local musicians, food trucks and other local beer and wine. Proceeds from alcohol sales will support the Canal Market District, a non-profit organization that runs the farmers market, art and craft market, and other public events at the newly launched outdoor event space located south of the courthouse square in downtown Newark.
The Canal Market Harvest Ale Release Party will take place on Saturday, October 29 from 4-7pm at the Canal Market District, located at 24 E Canal Street in Newark.
