The Land-Grant Brewing Company’s annual Space-Grant beer series is back with a fourth installment debuting tonight at the Franklinton taproom.
The latest Space-Grant release is Binary Star, a black IPA inspired by one of the cosmos’ coolest phenomena: a system with two stars orbiting an even larger central mass. The brewery describes Binary Star as “Cascade and Simcoe Cryo hops circle one another in a cosmic tango, bleeding their celestial force into one another before exploding in a supernova of floral and citrus hop energy ultimately collapsing into a deep, dark black hole of dark malt, roasty mystery.”
COSI’s chief scientist and astrophysicist Paul Sutter will be at the brewery tonight for a Q&A session and to show off some “stellar” toys. A portion of beer sales from the evening will be donated to COSI.
The Space-Grant series started in 2015 with the draft only release of EF-1 Black IPA, followed by Gravity Wave in 2016 and last year’s beer, Godspeed, a tribute to John Glenn.
Land-Grant Brewing Company is located at 424 W. Town St.
