The Portmsouth Brewing Company, Ohio’s oldest brewery (est. 1843) is hosting a beer tasting in Columbus at High Beck Corner Tavern on Saturday, February 25 from 3-6pm. Customers will get to meet the brewers and try discount samples and full pints of three different beers from the southern Ohio brewery: Portsmouth Pilsner, their flagship brew showcasing the “noble” Czech Saaz hop; Red Bird Ale, Portsmouth’s classic steam beer, dating back to the early 1800’s when the brewery first opened; and Excelsior Dark Lager, a light-bodied dark beer, smooth like a porter with a roasted chocolate/coffee aftertaste.

High Beck is located at 564 South High Street in the German Village neighborhood.

Portsmouth Pilsner bottles are available in Central Ohio at these carryouts: Andy’s Carryout, McClaskie’s Drive-Thru, Honeybee Drive-Thru & Carryout State Liquor, Europia State Liquor and Barley Hopster’s. Portsmouth Pilsner is available in Columbus area bars like Double D’s Pub, the Blue Danube, Pizza Rustica, Clancey’s Pub, Opa, and Amato’s. World of Beer serves Red Bird Ale on draught, in addition to carrying the Pilsner.
