Contestants from around the city will compete in a live-action bartending competition, using fresh local produce, Jose Cuervo Tequila, and their imagination for the chance to be crowned the creator of Columbus’ Best Margarita.
The contest will be held Tuesday, June 5 at 7pm at Park Street Cantina. Participating are bartenders from The Top, Bodega, Adobe Gilas, Park Street Saloon, Marshalls, Mad Mex, Level, Exile, Kildares, Eddie George’s Grill and The Bogey Bar.
The event will kick off with a “battle for tips” where all competing bartenders will host a cocktail hour, and the bartender that raises the most tips during that hour will have first choice of ingredient baskets. Each basket will have different produce with a different theme – tropical, berry, citrus, etc. Proceeds from the battle for tips will benefit Autism Speaks. Last year, the battle for tips raised over $1,800 for charity.
The best margarita will be judged by Jerod Smalley (NBC4), Matt Barnes (NBC4), Travis Hoewischer (614 Magazine), Duncan Oughton (Columbus Crew) and Mike G (CGS group).
Limited quantities 2oz samples of the margaritas will be available after the judging.
This is the second Columbus Best margarita competition – last year’s winner was Hans Maggard from The Top Steakhouse.
