Columbus Wine Collective

The Columbus Wine Collective was recently formed by six local wine shops: Meza Wine Shop in Westerville, House Wine in Worthington, Tutto Vino in Dublin, Twisted Vine in Grandview, Wine on High in the Short North and Sher-Bliss in Gahanna.

“Most of the market share with wine is the big box stores, so we thought we would partner together because we’re not really competing with each other,” said Donnie Austin, owner of House Wine.

While much of the purpose of the collective is educating about wine prices and the benefits of shopping local, consumers will be able to benefit, too. Member wine shops will able to offer more variety in their own stores because they will have the option to split the bottles, and cost, of a case of wine up to six different ways. Having to commit to sell an entire case at one neighborhood wine shop, especially for more expensive and rare wines, often prohibited them from purchasing products in the past. The shops will also continue to refer customers to each other for varietals they do not carry themselves.

WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!! Shop local, eat local, drink local is the latest mantra, but then so many people run to the below average selction and non-existent service found in many national chain stores. Support your local wine shop and they will support you with excellent customer service and wines made by farmers and families, not factories. Glad to hear it!

Brilliant! I love that people are collaborating and doing what is best for the consumer!! It speaks volumes, or in this case—bottles, that they are working so well together!
