There’s some cool stuff happening this week if you’re a fan of local craft breweries, which you probably are since you’re here. If you just ended up here because you got lost on the Internet, turn around and hang a left at the cat pictures to get back to the main road.
Wednesday – Pumpkeg: This made me laugh out loud for the ingenuity or stupidity of it. Both Barley’s locations (Smokehouse and Ale House) will feature “Barley’s Pumpkin Delivery System” (pictured right) for Halloween. They are filling a pumpkin with fresh hops, whole cinnamon sticks, orange zest, fresh ginger and grated nutmeg… then connecting it to MacLenny’s Scottish Ale tap. Available all day.
Thursday – Barley’s Anniversary: Barley’s is celebrating their 20th anniversary at the downtown Ale House. As part of their annual tradition, they will tap the first Christmas Ale of the season at the party, with soccer player Frankie Hejduk as the guest keg tapper. Barley’s is also selling a few tickets to a private VIP party in their basement before the public event for a select few to mingle with some VIPs (including me!). Public event starts at 6:30pm.
Friday – Food Truck Elections: Zauber Brewing Company’s monthly food truck event will feature The Cheesy Truck, Sophie’s Pierogies, That Food Truck, Tatoheads, Pitabillities, Ajumama, Blu Olive, Paddy Wagon, Mikey’s Late Night Slice, Swoop Food Truck, Green Meanie and My Place or Yours. Zauber will have Roggen Rye and Stodgy Brown available early, and will tap Buxom Blonde, Myopic Red and Vertigo when those run out. Barley’s will also be pouring pints, with Thirst Wheat and Scottish Ale available. Event runs from 4-9pm.

I’ll be at the VIP party also. Look for the guy with cigars in his pocket lol.
Dan
Wish I could make the VIP party but perhaps it’s just as well – I get tongue-tied around Frankie Hedjuk
I also notice that Elevator Brewing is having a similar event featuring CD102.5’s Brian Phillips tapping their “Spiced Autumn Ale”. Coincidence? Or counter-programming?
Prost!
