Barley’s Smokehouse is tapping a beer tribute to Ohio Stage’s legendary coach Woody Hayes on the occasion of his 100th birthday this Thursday, February 14th.
In an email, Barley’s owner Lenny Kolada said that Hayes’ name “screams barrel-conditioned ale. Unfiltered, like the man.”
Woody Haze 100 is a Scottish Export Ale that has matured in a Woodford Reserve bourbon barrel. It includes smoked malt and clocked in at 9.7% ABV before put into the barrel.
Only 50 gallons of Woody Haze 100 are available. It will tap at Barley’s Smokehouse this Thursday, and will be featured during two upcoming Firkin Fridays at the brew pub.
“The taste as it came out of the barrel portends it to be a fine winter sipping ale,” said Kolada.
