Deschutes launching in Ohio with series of events

deschutes-columbusBend, Oregon-based brewery Deschutes is entering the Ohio market with a series of launch events planned around Columbus during the last week in January.

Deschutes was the fifth largest craft brewery in the US at the end of 2012, according to the Brewers Association. With the addition of Deschutes, and New Belgium late last year, all of the top ten craft brewers are now available in the state of Ohio.

Deschutes will offer Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, Inversion IPA and spring seasonal Red Chair Northwest Pale Ale in both six-packs and kegs initially in the market.

The brewery is hosting a series of “Meet, Greet, Sample” events all over Ohio and in Kentucky from Friday, January 24 to Friday, January 31, as part of its launch efforts. The Columbus events are listed below. Deschutes will also be pouring at the Columbus Winter Beerfest January 17-18.

WHAT: Oregon Comes to Old Towne
Deschutes Brewery is bringing a taste of Oregon to Old Towne Columbus, with its tasty beers pouring at no less than four popular Old Towne haunts. Make the rounds and welcome Deschutes to Ohio!

WHAT: Beer and Movie Night with the Barley Hopsters
Come hang out with the Barley Hopsters at the historic Strand Theater and sample some delicious Deschutes Brewery beer all the way from Oregon. You know what else is coming to the Theater from Oregon? The classic film The Goonies, filmed there in 1985.

WHAT: Friends of the Bar Meet the Brewery
Come meet the gang from Deschutes Brewery and enjoy flights of their beer as they visit Ohio all the way from Oregon. Enjoy a hot dog buffet with condiments that were actually made using Deschutes Brewery beer as an ingredient, plus nosh on other beer-inspired bar snacks.

WHAT: Taste of Oregon with Deschutes Brewery
We don’t think there’s any better way to “taste” Oregon than by sampling a few of its best brews from Deschutes Brewery – launching in Ohio this week. Featuring the beautiful and aromatic whole flower hop, their beer lineup will have you longing for the west coast.

WHAT: Beer-lesque: Tastings and Tassels!
What’s better than an evening full of craft beer from Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery? An evening full of craft beer…coupled with some lovely burlesque dancers from local troupe the Velvet Hearts and national singular sensation Fannie Spankings! They will feature a Deschutes Brewery beer in each of their burlesque and variety stage acts. Swank DJ’s will set the mood at the beginning of the show and round out the evening after Beer-lesque. WHAT: Brewers Brunch with Deschutes Brewery
Beer and breakfast: it’s not an oxymoron anymore! Join us for a perfect weekend brunch of tasty treats paired with beers from 4 different breweries. Deschutes Brewery has teamed up with local favorites Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus, North High Brewing, and Seventh Son Brewing Company. To top it all off, staff from each brewery will be in the house to hang out and talk craft beer over bacon.

As an extra note of celebration for the “Paint the Pint House” first Saturday during Gallery Hop night, beers will be flowing from the new to Ohio Deschutes Brewery. Come celebrate with pub grub, pints all the way from Oregon and local artist, who will be creating art right in front of your eyes!

WHAT: Super Beer Superbowl Party
What’s the Super Bowl without some fantastic craft beer in hand? Just another plain, old Sunday, we’d say. That’s why Deschutes Brewery and its crew are here all the way from Oregon, launching their tasty craft beers in Ohio to celebrate the big game, “Hangover” and “Bridesmaids-style”! Live music from the Lovebenders from 4 – 6 PM and an all-you-can-eat buffet for $10 round out the festivities ($5 of the ticket goes to the Nature Conservancy). Buffet tickets can be purchased at World of Beer.
