If you’ve been waiting for an update on the Pigskin Brewing Co, you’re not alone.
We first shared their crowdfunding campaign back in July 2013.
Then in August, they told Columbus Underground they were planning to launch in the fall in a large venue on Dublin Road. The building was to house the brewery, plus two commercial test kitchens and an indoor event space, with an outdoor event space and community garden. It sounded pretty kickass, but we wanted to wait till they were closer to opening to check back with them.
In October, Pigskin told The Ohio Beercast that they had acquired all of their brewing equipment and were building out their space, with plans for a grand opening at the beginning of January.
Now, in February, we do have an update of our own, but it’s not the “now open” or “coming soon” announcement we were hoping to share.
“Unfortunately we have decided to move on from our Dublin Road space due to monetary issues and developments with the village that it’s located in,” said Mike Rockwell, Brewer/COO of Pigskin Brewing, in an email. “We do not have an opening date as of yet and we are still searching for that elusive space.”
Pending all the permits required to launch a brewery, it will be several months after they find a new location before they are able to open. We’ll keep you posted on their progress.

Marble Cliff playing hardball, apparently?
Don’t give up. Getting the right space and cooperative local governmental support is important.
