Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival June 20-22

Written by on June 4, 2014 in Events - 17 Comments

creeksideCreekside Blues & Jazz Festival is a weekend-long celebration of world-class music, mouth watering food, local artisans and family entertainment, now in its 16th year.

This year the event will feature a whiskey tasting with Pete Wagner — “Whiskey Pete,” a Certified Spirits Specialist who will discuss the evolution of whiskey-making and the fine distinctions between many varieties of bourbon and whiskey. Attendees can sample a flight of whiskeys or bourbons with Whiskey Pete between 2-5pm on Saturday. Don’t want a flight? Try a custom cocktail like the “Gahanna Jewel” or “Lemon Thyme Creekside Sling” in the Bourbon & Whiskey bar, available on Saturday from 12-6 pm on the Creekside Plaza.

Additionally, a variety of craft beers will be available throughout the Festival all weekend, including Columbus Brewing Company IPA, Pale Ale and Summer Teeth; Four String Suncaster Wheat and Backstage Blonde; and New Belgium Fat Tire and Snapshot Wheat.

Grammy-winning, internationally renowned acoustic blues artist John Hammond headlines the festival this year. Other performers include The Urban Jazz Coalition, The Colin Lazarski Quartet, The Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Drifter Kings, Noah Wotherspoon, Terry Davidson and the Gears, Ray Fuller and the Bluesrockers, Hootie McBoob, McGuffey Lane, Sean Carney, Willie Phoenix Band and the John Schwab Party Band.

Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival takes place June 20-22 at the Creekside Park & Plaza, located at 123 Mill Street in Gahanna. Tickets are $5 general admission per day – $12 weekend wristbands are available at the Gahanna Convention & Visitors Bureau.

I am most excited for the craft beer. It will be nice to attend a festival that uses local beer, as opposed to generic, domestic stuff. Dublin Irish Festival needs to step it up with more than just Guinness, Killian’s, Coors Light and Blue Moon.

New to Columbus area from the West Coast and I’m stoked to listen to some music and meet new people.

    Cheers!
