The Worthington Inn used to be a sought-after brunch buffet in the city, but a few months ago they dropped the buffet act in favor of a set brunch menu. Not everyone knows about the change – we observed one very disappointed brunch party confused by the absent buffet – but I’d take a brunch entree over an endless buffet any day. Well, unless I’m, like, really, REALLY hungry.
The Worthington Inn has a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar that uses Watershed’s vodka with any of 15 specialty garnishes, including a sizeable jar of bacon… which the bartender would not let me steal. Hmph. Not personally big on Bloodys, I had a mimosa (they didn’t have a cocktail menu).
During brunch, The Worthington Inn serves several of their regular entrees and beef burgers, in addition to 10 brunch-only offerings. Banana-pecan stuffed french toast and the Ploughman’s charcuterie Platter had me drooling, but I had the breakfast biscuit, topped with scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar, tomato, arugula and bacon, with a side of scrumptiously seasoned home fries.
Brunch at The Worthington Inn is served Saturdays from 10am-3pm and Sundays from 10am-2pm. The Worthington Inn is located at 649 High St.
