buckeye canning millionThis week, Buckeye Canning, which offers breweries a cost-effective portable canning line, seamed its one millionth Ohio craft brew.

So far, the company has canned for seventeen different Ohio breweries, including Buckeye Brewing, Catawba Island Brewing, Cellar Rats Brewing, Christian Moerlein Brewing, Elevator Brewing, Fat Head’s Brewery, Four String Brewing, Jackie O’s Brewery, Long Trail Brewing, Maumee Bay Brewing, Platform Beer, Portside Brewing, Rocky River Brewing, Seventh Son Brewing, Shipyard Brewing, Sprague Farms and Brewery, and Willoughby Brewing.

Starting in the spring, they will begin canning for The Brew Kettle, The Dayton Brewing Company, Ei8ht Ball Brewing Company, Hoof Hearted Brewing Company, North High Brewing Company and Yellow Springs Brewing Company as well. The canning company projects to seal up 2,500,000 cans in 2015.

“We could not be more proud to help all of these breweries grow and have continued success,” said Buckeye Canning owner Dan Blatt. “We have been very fortunate to have seamed one million cans with zero seaming issues, low fills or catastrophes. We take pride in the fact that we keep our clients loss to under 1% which is an outstanding number when it comes to packaging beer. We owe that fact to the brewers for having perfect, I mean perfect, beer when we show up on canning day.”

Blatt says beer can interest and appreciation has noticeably evolved since Buckeye Canning began its mobile canning operation back in 2013.

“I think that it is safe to say that the can is no longer a trend, but a vessel that is preferred by a large amount of breweries, and certainly the consumer,” Blatt said. “The fact that there are 485 Breweries in the United States that have canned over 95 styles of beers is pretty solid proof that canned beer is good and here to stay.”
