Cincinnati’s Rhinegeist Brewery is investing $10 million to purchase and improve their historic 112,000sqft building and to install a massive new brewhouse.

With increased capacity, Rhinegeist will expand distribution to Columbus. The brewery plans to continue self distributing and hopes to finalize a lease shortly on a 17,000 square-foot warehouse near downtown Columbus. Rhinegeist is also in the process of hiring a sales and distribution team of 12+ people in Central Ohio. While some Rhinegeist beers are already available locally, a full launch of their draft and packaged beer is expected in late Spring.

Even though their beers are currently only available in Cincinnati, Dayton and Northern Kentucky, Rhinegeist was the #1 top selling new craft brewery in the US in 2014 according to data from IRi.

Rhinegeist will grow from the 11,000 barrels they sold in 2014 to upwards of 30,000 barrels in 2015 with their new 60 barrel brewhouse. After launching in Columbus, Rhinegeist hopes to gradually extend its distribution into other regional markets.
