BrewDog has secured a site in Columbus to build their first brewery outside of Scotland.

BrewDog shared that they will build their US brewery on a 42 hectare (that is, 103 acre) site in Columbus – we are still trying to determine exactly where the brewery is going. Its capacity has yet to be decided by BrewDog.

The announcement was made yesterday at the brewery’s annual general meeting for investors, dubbed Punk AGM, which attracted more than 6,000 attendees.

BrewDog had previously shared that they were favoring Columbus because of its ideal location for distribution: about half of the US population is located within 500 miles of Columbus. The Scottish brewery was also considering Charleston, South Carolina for its planned US brewery.

UPDATE: Brewery owner James Watt shared on Twitter: “Just to clarify. We are *close* to a deal for a site in Columbus, Ohio. But we have some details to agree. So not 100% yet. Watch this space.” Additionally, we’re pretty sure the brewery (if the deal goes through) will be going on the east side of the city but are waiting for confirmation from the property owner.

On Saturday, a source told me that it looked like the BrewDog deal was done and the brewery will likely be located in the Gahanna area.
