The 10th annual Ohio Brew Week kicks off today, bringing more than 200 beers (and ciders, and meads) from over 40 breweries (and cideries, and meadieries) across the state to Athens, Ohio.
Ohio Brew Week comprises barbecues, beer tastings, food pairings and lectures at bars and restaurants throughout the city. The nine-day event commences today at the fifth annual Rock-N-Roast at the Ohio University Inn and Conference Center, where guests can chow down on smoked meats, enjoy music from Backwords Band and sip on a specially brewed Rock & Roast Session IPA from Elevator Brewing.
Other notable events include this year’s keynote is Patrick Conway, co-founder of Great Lakes Brewing Company, who will speak on Monday, July 13 at Jackie O’s Public House; the Brew BQ on Friday, July 17 at the Athens Train Depot featurimg a craft beer garden and live music from The Wild Honeybees; and the culminating Last Call Street Festival on July 18, a two-block beer garden on Court Street with music, food, art, and beer from 25 Ohio craft breweries.
