Powell is getting its first brewery: the Ill Mannered Brewing Company will debut tonight, August 26, at a soft opening from 5-10pm.
“We saw a community that needed a brewery to call its own,” said Ill Mannered Brewing co-founder Brian Mathias told us in May. “Local residents and nearby businesses alike have been excited to hear about us and supportive of our plans.”
Mathias co-founded the operation with friends Greg Dannemiller, Ryan Romer-Jordan and Tom Ayers. Ill Mannered is an anagram of Dannemiller’s last name, and a description of “the coarse personality of another [co-founder],” the brewery jokes.
Ill Mannered’s 950 square foot taproom houses a three-barrel nanobrewery. The brewery will open with five beers, including Ill Manna Slamma (Blonde Ale, 4.8%), Rye One On (Belgian Rye Ale, 5.8%), POWELL! Right In The Kisser (India Pale Ale, 6.9%) License to Ill (West Coast Amber Ale, 6.3%), and The Nice Vice (Breakfast Stout, 6.9%)
“Our goal is to have a rotating tap lineup so there is something new every time you come to visit,” Mathias said. The brewery will also have an “Ill Beer of the Week,” one of their beers freshly infused with fresh hops, spices, fruit or other ingredients.
Ill Mannered Brewing’s grand opening will be Saturday, September 4 at 5pm. The brewery will initially only serve beer out of their taproom, with distribution to local restaurants and bars to follow.
Regular hours for the brewery will be Wednesday-Friday from 5-10pm and Saturday from 12-8pm. Ill Mannered Brewing is located at 30 Grace Drive in Powell.
