The Ohio Craft Brew Festival is taking place this Friday and Saturday at the North Market. The 10th annual event will feature 71 different beers from an all Ohio line-up of 16 breweries.
Breweries include local favorites like Barley’s Seventh Son, Land-Grant and Elevator, and some terrific out-of-towners including Rhinegeist, Jackie O’s and, making their first appearance at the event, Great Black Swamp Brewing out of Toledo. A few beers that especially caught my eye to try were Rockmill’s En Plein Air Saison, Jackie O’s Oro Negro Imperial Stout on oak, and Elevator’s Super Shandy Hefeweizen.
Admission is $30 at the door and includes 10 tasting tickets, a $5 voucher for use at any of the North Market merchants and a special tasting glass (while they last). Additional tasting tickets may be purchased for $1 each. DJ Patrick Hicks will be rocking the crowd on Friday night, and Saturday will include The Washington Beach Bums live on stage from 7pm–10pm.
The North Market’s Executive Director, Rick Wolfe expects 5,000–6,000 attendees, and has doubled the number of entry lines to get everyone into the event quickly. More time to enjoy great Ohio craft brews!
The Ohio Craft Brew Festival will run from 6-11pm on Friday and 2-10pm on Saturday at the North Market, located at 59 Spruce Street.. Designated drivers are admitted free of charge and, in case you have one too many, there are $10 Yellow Cab vouchers available for up to 100 revelers. Or plan ahead and hop on the CBUS, COTA’s free downtown circulator which conveniently stops at Spruce and High.
