Unless you’re in the “cheap seats” (ha), you may be able to enjoy a few brews at tomorrow’s Ohio State football game and throughout the rest of the season.
The stadium is offering a limited rollout of beer and wine in the stadium’s suites and club seats only. Eugene Smith, Director of Athletics for Ohio State, says 32 other schools are now selling alcohol, including Texas, Maryland and Minnesota. Smith says the limited rollout is designed to allow Ohio State to develop logistics, guidelines and policies for on-site alcohol consumption.
Fans of local craft beer will be delighted to learn that Land-Grant’s Stiff Arm IPA, North High’s IPA and Four String’s Brass Knuckle pale ale will all be available for purchase as part of the pilot program. Additional offerings will include Crispin Cider, Coors Banquet, Miller Lite, Coors Light, Leinenkugel seasonal shandy, Blue Moon, Budweiser and Bud Light. Wine selections will include Copper Ridge Cabernet, Kendall Jackson Chardonnay, Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc and Zanon Zinfandel, a California wine with Columbus roots (read more about Zanon Zinfandel).
