elevatorThe awards are in for the best brews at the Great American Beer Festival and one local brewery is bringing a medal back to Columbus.

Of several local breweries which entered beer into the competition, Elevator Brewing is the only one returning to Central Ohio with a medal. The brewery took a bronze medal for its Mogabi American-style wheat beer, Elevator’s first medal at GABF since 2007 when they won for Dark Horse (now known as Dark Force due to a naming conflict with Michigan-based Dark Horse Brewing Co.) Columbus Brewing, North High Brewing and Wolf’s Ridge Brewing from Central Ohio also submitted beers for consideration in the competition.

Other Ohio breweries medaling at the event include The Brew Kettle (Bronze, White Rajah), Fat Head’s (Gold, Midnight Moonlight; Gold, Bone Head Imperial Red; Gold, Hop JuJu, Silver; Black Night), Platform Beer Co (Gold, Black Eagle Gratzer), JAFB Wooster (Silver, Rain Delay IPA), Lager Heads (Bronze, Smokie Robbins) and Rhinegeist (Silver, Sherry Ink).

There were 6,647 beers from 1,552 breweries entered in this year’s competition. A full list of winning beers is available here.
