After mashing in on their first batch yesterday, Kindred Artisan Ales are expected to hit the market next month.

Max Lachowyn, a co-founder of Actual Brewing Co. and former brewer for Seventh Son Brewing Co., and Pat Gangwer, of Jackie O’s Brewing, are the forces behind the new brewery.

Kindred Artisan Ales will launch with two brews: Kindred Wit, a Belgian-style witbier brewed with chamomile, coriander and orange peel; and Salvage Porter, a robust porter brewed with three types of English roasted malts.

“We have a love for Belgian-style beers but plan to run the gamut from saison to barleywine,” said Lachowyn. “We will have a sour and barrel aging program that will facilitate some of the creative juices that we don’t want flowing at the production facility. Our brewing influence will lean more Belgian than English, but bold American craft beer will remain at the heart of everything we do.”

Lachowyn says the brewery expected to have kegs hit in the market the last week of February.

Kindred will be opening a taproom at 505 Morrison Road in Gahanna which will double as storage for the the barrel aging program. The taproom is expected to open in March.
