Three Tigers BrewingIn 2013, the husband and wife team of Scott and Ashley Wilkens launched their Mai Chau food truck in Licking County. The Vietnamese inspired street food concept was so successful that in late 2015 they opened up a full restaurant in Granville, along with partners Lonnie Hill and Rick Moller. Now, just a few months later, this same group is opening the Three Tigers Brewing Company next door.

The brewery is equipped with a 3-1/2 barrel brewing system and four 3-1/2 barrel fermenters under the direction of Matt Mazur. Matt is an award-winning homebrewer who has been working the art for more than 20 years. First on the to-brew list for Matt is Hoptic Nerve Double IPA, which won the Barley’s Homebrew Competition several years ago. Following closely behind will be a Pale Ale, a Stout and a Hefeweizen. Their house beers will hit the taps in May.

The taproom is quickly coming together, and promises to be anything but run-of-the-mill. It’s both large and cozy, and the long concrete topped bar is lined with fixed stools, while hand crafted bench seats are scattered around the room. If you are looking for comfort, grab a seat on one of the two black leather sofas and watch the game on one of the flat panel TVs. There is a pass-through window from the Mai Chau restaurant next door which provides quick access to a nice set of menu options. In addition, to their Vietnamese fare, Scott is working on a more traditional menu for Sunday brunch. Scott also plans to invite fellow food-truckers to use their kitchen for special Sunday meals.

Behind the bar, you will notice 12 tap handles designed and made by a local Granville artist. Expect to see four house beers routinely on tap, along with eight guest brews. Three Tigers expects to produce 300 – 400 bbls. per year with some of the kegs being self-distributed to area bars and restaurants. If you are not up for a beer, no worries; Three Tigers has a full liquor license highlighted by some truly unique, Asian influenced cocktails. The cocktail menu was custom designed for them by Daniel Morris.

Scott expects to have a soft opening in a week or so, watch their Facebook page for details. The Three Tigers Brewing Company is located at 140 N. Prospect Street in Granville and will be opened Monday – Thursday from 3–10pm, Friday and Saturday 11:30am–11pm. Sunday hours will be added about a month after opening.
