Eight Columbus restaurants were recognized for their extensive wine lists in Wine Spectator magazine’s 2016 Restaurant Awards.

Wine Spectator began recognizing the world’s best wine lists in 1981. There are three levels of recognition: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence, and the Grand Award. The Best of Award of Excellence, granted to 1,093 honorees, is given to restaurants offering 350 or more selections. The Grand Award, reserved for those with over 1,000 wine varieties, was bestowed upon 88 restaurants.

Columbus restaurant The Refectory was the only local restaurant selected for the Best of Award of Excellence. The Award of Excellence was granted to Barcelona, The Barn at Rocky Fork Creek, Hudson 29 (both New Albany and Upper Arlington locations), M at Miranova, Mitchell’s Ocean Club, Smith & Wollensky, and Tucci’s.

The winners will be featured in Wine Spectator’s August issue, on newsstands July 19, and on the magazine’s website.

Wow! Smith & Wollensky is an amazing hidden gem at Easton but I never knew they had the best wine list in Columbus. Great date night location or great spot for patio dining.. Bone In Filet is my favorite steak in town. Best Martini’s by far..
