Rockmill Brewery will soon open Rockmill Tavern, a bar and restaurant in the Brewery District at 503 S. Front Street, the former home of World of Beer. Rockmill has hired Chef Andrew Smith (previously Salt & Pine, The Rossi) as the executive chef for the new operation.
“We’re going to have a really focused, small tavern menu built around the portfolio of our beers and creating some really exciting beer pairings,” Rockmill owner Matthew Barbee told us earlier this year.
While the specific opening date for Rockmill Tavern has yet been announced, expect Rockmill Tavern to open in the next few weeks, as the bar is participating in a Brewery District bar crawl next month.
Those interested in sampling what Rockmill Tavern’s kitchen will be serving can attend a beer dinner this Friday, September 16 at Rockmill’s Lancaster farmhouse. The event will feature five courses, each paired with a Rockmill beer:
- Charred cruciferous vegetables, roasted citrus, candied nuts, ricotta salata
- Toast, whipped cloverton, caramelized pickled onions, stewed acorn squash, smoked almond
- Fried Branzino, sweet chilies, salsa verde
- Tavern burger, bacon confiture, extra sharp Tillamook cheddar, ciabatta, dijonnaise
- Peanut butter pie, olive oil, maldon
The dinner is $65 per person and tickets can be purchased online.
