Woodlands Tavern has been one of my favorite bars in Columbus since it opened five years ago. Cheap craft brews ($2 all night on Mondays!), great live tunes, and some of the friendliest bartenders in town. Woodlands is also one of my clients (my first, actually) — I’ve managed Woodlands social media since shortly after they opened — so I’m a bit biased, but I’ve also never taken anyone there and disappointed them. In any case, I was PUMPED when I found out Woodlands and Challah, which took over the kitchen at the bar a few months ago, were teaming up to offer a Sunday brunch.
Woodlands Tavern’s brunch boasts a seriously impressive bloody mary bar — I counted at least 15 hot sauces alongside over a dozen other toppings — and while I’m not personally a big bloody fan, my boyfriend was pretty pleased with what he whipped up. I opted for a mimosa, which was outfitted with a strawberry J Pop popsicle adding a sweet hint of strawberry. Woodlands also offers Thunderkiss Cold Brewed coffee with a variety of alcoholic additions and a few other specialty cocktails.
Alongside a selection of sandwiches from their standard menu, Challah serves up five special dishes for Sunday brunch: bagels and lox, as you might expect to find at the jewish deli; a butternut squash/kale/ricotta frittata; biscuits and gravy; pumpkin Challah french toast; and eggs with toast and sausage.
Brunch at Woodlands Tavern is served Sundays from 11am-4pm. Woodlands Tavern is located at 1200 W Third Avenue in the Grandview area.
