Smokehouse Brewing Company will host their 14th annual Mini Real Ale Festival on May 13.

The beer festival exclusively features cask ale, or “real” ale, which is unfiltered and unpasteurised beer served directly from the cask it is conditioned in, without added CO2.

“The most authentic beer you can enjoy comes from a cask,” said Lenny Kolada, owner of Smokehouse Brewing. “This is how beer was served before the Industrial Revolution. Whether you’re new to craft beer or a seasoned hop head, the Mini is the best way to enjoy real, local ales. Party like it’s 1699.”

Breweries participating in this year’s event include Actual Brewing, Barley’s Brewing, Commonhouse Ales, Four String Brewing, Land-Grant Brewing, North High Brewing, Seventh Son Brewing, Weasel Boy Brewing, Wolf’s Ridge Brewing, and of course Smokehouse Brewing.

The event also features a whole smoked hog, from which patrons can purchase pulled pork sliders – about as freshly “pulled” as is possible.

Tickets to the event, which includes 12 tastings, a souvenir pint glass and a souvenir program, are only $25 at the brewpub or $27 online.

The 14th Annual Mini Real Ale Fest will take place Saturday, May 13 from 12-3pm at Smokehouse Brewing, located at 1130 Dublin Road.. This year’s Fest falls during Columbus Craft Beer Week, which takes place May 12-20.
